Brenda Hall filed suit Nov. 5 in the Cook County Circuit Court against her sister and primary caretaker Linda Lazzara.
According to Hall, she and Lazzara resided in the same home at 10647 Preston St. in Westchester from 1999 until 2012. The suit states Hall was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1991.
Lazzara, the suit states, agreed to act as her primary caretaker in exchange for a monthly payment from the state of Illinois. Hall claims she endured an ever-degrading standard of living.
In her complaint, Hall contends Lazzara banished her to the basement and repeatedly insulted, physically abused and threatened to kill her.
Hall is suing Lazzara for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented by Chicago attorney Alexander McHenry Memmen.
