A local health care provider is facing suit over claims it committed medical malpractice.
Karen Coyle filed a lawsuit Dec. 3 in the Cook County Circuit Court against St. James Hospital and Health Centers Corp. and Franciscan Alliance Inc., citing medical negligence.
The complaint states that Coyle was admitted to St. James Hospital and Health Centers on Dec. 8, 2011, when an IV of Levaquin was placed into the her arm.
Coyle contends the defendants negligently caused her to suffer an infiltration burn, failed to dilute the Levaquin and failed to recognize and diagnose the IV infiltration.
She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented in the case by the Law Offices of Scott B. Wolfman & Associates PC.
