Roseland Community Hospital named in wrongful death lawsuit

Perconti

Jacklan Hudson-Shempert, as independent administrator of the Estate of Mae Hudson,  is suing Roseland Community Hospital over allegations it was negligent in its care.

According to the complaint, which was filed Dec. 4 in the Cook County Circuit Court,  Hudson was admitted to Roseland in December 2011 and stayed there until her Sept. 4, 2012 death.

Hudson-Shempert says Roseland, located at 45 W. 11th St. in Chicago, knew Hudson was at risk for developing pressure sores, but did not take adequate measures to prevent them.

Hudson allegedly developed pressure sores 10 days after being admitted to Roseland. Hudson-Shempert claims the pressure sores became infected and required surgical debridements, which resulted in or contributed to Hudson's death.

The plaintiff is suing for negligence and wrongful death and is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented by Chicago attorneys John J. Perconti and Jordan S. Powell.
