A man is suing after he tripped and fell while at a local McDonald's restaurant.

Elvin Pedraza filed a lawsuit Dec. 9 in the Cook County Circuit Court against McDonald's Corp., BT II Inc., Blanton Canady and Micheal Ulwelling, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Pedraza was at McDonald's, at 600 E. Grand Ave. in Chicago on Dec. 30, 2011, when he tripped over a fallen, wet floor sign that an agent of the defendant had placed in the center of the lobby.

Pedraza says that he was carrying a tray of food to a table when he stepped on the wet floor sign, causing him to trip and fall and sustain injuries. He says that after his fall he was told by customers and other McDonald's workers that other customers had fallen on the sign, but no one had moved it.

The complaint includes allegations the defendants created a dangerous condition and failed to warn others of the dangerous condition, among other allegations.

Pedraza is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit. He is being represented in the case by attorney Yao O. Dinizulu of Dinizulu Law Group Ltd.
