A Chicago bar and its owner are being sued over allegations a patron sustained injuries while on the premises.

Kent C. Nielsen filed a dram shop lawsuit Dec. 9 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Marc23 LLC, doing business as Vincenzo's, and Marc Nichols.

Nielsen alleges that on Jan. 1, he suffered serious injuries while he was a patron at Vincenzo's, a pizzeria and sports bar at 1104 W. Madison St. in Chicago.

He claims in his suit that Vincenzo's served alcohol to Nichols, who became intoxicated, jumped on the Nielsen's back, threw him to the ground and began punching him. Published media reports about the opening of Vincenzo's identify Nichols as the owner.

Nielsen is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and is being represented by Brian D. Teven of Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen Ltd. in Chicago.
