The widow of a former warehouse worker claims her husband developed lung cancer and died after repeated exposure to asbestos.
Annie Bailey-Cure, as special administrator of the Estate of Gene A. Cure, filed the asbestos litigation complaint Nov. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against A.W. Chesterton Co., and others.
According to the suit, Gene Cure worked in various capacities, including as a warehouse worker, laborer and foundry worker, from the 1960's until the 1970's, during which time he was exposed to asbestos containing products.
Bailey-Cure contends the defendants were negligent and knew or should have known that asbestos could cause injury or death. She claims Gene Cure developed lung cancer as a result of the exposure, which ultimately led to his death.
The plaintiff is asking for damages in excess of the jurisdictional amount, plus costs. She is being represented by Lawrence R. Weisler of Cooney & Conway in Chicago.
