A minor is suing claiming he hit his head on a bar protruding from a garbage container while at recess.
The minor, through his mother and next friend, Jenny Kozul, filed a lawsuit Dec. 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Chicago Public Schools and Allied Waste Services, citing negligence and willful and wanton conduct.
According to the complaint, the minor was a student on recess at William G. Hibbard Elementary School at 3244 W. Ainslie St. in Chicago on April 4, when he collided with a metal bar protruding from Allied Waste garbage containers.
The suit alleges that the defendants' carelessness and negligence caused the minor's injuries.
The minor is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus costs, and is being represented in the case by attorney Michael V. Connolly.
