Man sues over allegations Actos medication caused bladder cancer

A drug manufacturer is facing another suit over claims a prescription drug increased bladder cancer risk.

Rodolfo Spadano filed a lawsuit Dec. 9 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against against Takeda Pharmaceuticals America Inc., Takeda Pharmaceutical U.S.A. Inc., formerly Takeda Pharmaceutical North America Inc., and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, citing negligence and strict liability.

Spadano alleges he was prescribed the medication Actos and was later diagnosed with bladder cancer and had recurrences of bladder cancer. He claims the defendants concealed knowledge that Actos can cause bladder cancer.

He is seeking damages in excess and is being represented by Peter J. Flowers of Meyers & Flowers LLC and Tor A. Hoerman of Torhoerman Law LLC.
