Lilly Chapman, as independent administrator of the Estate of Willie Gibson, filed suit Nov. 1 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Glenshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre Ltd., claiming its negligence led to her uncle's death.
According to the complaint, Willie Gibson was admitted in January of 2011 to Glenshire, where he stayed until his death in January of 2012. Chapman claims that during Gibson's stay at Glenshire, he suffered multiple falls that required hospitalization.
Chapman further alleges that around Jan. 28, 2012, Gibson fell at Glenshire and was taken to a hospital, where it was discovered he had fractured ribs and internal bleeding and a pulmonary hemorrhage.
Chapman, the suit states, believes Gibson died as a result of his fall. She is suing under Illinois' Nursing Home Care Act, alleging Glenshire was negligent in supervising Gibson and making sure he didn't fall.
She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by Duffin and Dore LLC.
