Couple sues doctor for alleged failure to diagnose, treat disease

Scales3

Jim and Myra Puff have filed suit in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Robert Schwartzenberg and Advocate Physician Partners over alleged negligence.

According to the complaint, Shwartzenberg became James Puff's primary doctor in February 2000 and the relationship continued until November 2011.

The Puffs claim James saw Shwartzenberg routinely during that time, but that Shwartzenberg failed to diagnose and treat James' multiple myeloma. The Puffs assert James had to undergo a biopsy on his right forearm when his ailment was discovered.

The Puffs are accusing the defendants of failing to properly diagnose and treat James' multiple myeloma, which allowed the disease to progress.

They are seeking more than $50,000 in damages and are represented by attorney John J. MacInerney.
