Scales3

A couple is suing after the husband allegedly slipped on flooring while working on a construction project.

Fidel Cerda and Miriam Cerda filed a lawsuit Oct. 18 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Northern Builders Inc., citing negligence and loss of consortium.

According to the complaint, Fidel Cerda was an employee of CommScope at 2700 Ellis Road in Joliet and the defendant was contracted to do improvement work on the property. Fidel Cerda claims on Feb. 7 he slipped and fell on floor that was being worked on.

He alleges his fall resulted from the defendant installing floor that was excessively slippery and failing to warn of the dangerous condition. He is suing for his injuries sustained and Miriam Cerda is suing for loss of consortium.

The Cerdas are seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum, plus court costs, and are being represented in the case by attorney Andrew Pippin.
