Lorraine Taylor filed a medical malpractice lawsuit Oct. 22 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Cook County Health & Hospital System, doing business as John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, and Drs. Shinoj Pattali Jayavalsan and Chukwuemka Ezike.

According to the complaint,  Taylor was admitted to Stroger Hospital on July 22, 201 with complaints of abdominal pain, a urinary tract infection and infected ureteral stents.

The plaintiff alleges Jayavalsan and Ezike committed medical malpractice when they failed to inform her of the urinary tract infection and infected stent, failed to remove the infected left ureteral stents, negligently failed to treat the her and discharged her from the hospital without treating the infected stents.

Taylor is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and is being represented in the case by attorney Leonard D. Litwin of Sheldon Hodes & Associates.
