Woman trips over hole in crosswalk, sues city

Jacobson

Margot Felling filed suit Nov. 7 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the City of Chicago, Qwest Communications Co. LLC and John Burns Construction Co.

According to the complaint, Felling was at the crosswalk going from the northwest corner to the northeast corner of Dearborn Street at the intersection of Dearborn and Polk streets when she tripped and fell in a hole, causing injuries.

She claims the crosswalk was in disrepair on January 2011, creating a dangerous condition. Felling accuses the defendants of failing to maintain the pedestrian walkway in a safe condition, or warning pedestrians of the unsafe condition.

She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages for her alleged injuries and is being represented by Chicago attorney Keith Jacobson.
