A local medical center is facing suit over claims it violated the Nursing Home Care Act.
Stuart Handelman, as special administrator of the Estate of Edward Handelman, filed a lawsuit Nov. 8 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Whitehall North LLC, doing business as Whitehall of Deerfield Healthcare Center, citing violations of the Nursing Home Care Act.
According to the complaint, Edward was a resident at the defendant's facility at 300 Waukegan Road in Deerfield beginning Nov. 26, 2011. While Edward was a resident, the suit claims the defendant failed to properly care for him, which resulted in him falling and sustaining a head injury and developing and/or experiencing a worsening of his decubitus ulcers.
The plaintiff is seeking more than the jurisdictional minimum in damages. He is being represented in the case by Ian R. Alexander of Goldberg & Goldberg.
