Carwash owner sues insurance company

Faraj

A carwash owner is suing his insurance company after a fire damaged his business.

Mohamed Alassaf filed a lawsuit Dec. 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Travelers Casualty Insurance Company of America, citing breach of contract and delay and refusal of payment.

According to the complaint, an accidental fire broke out on Feb. 1, 2011 at Alassaf's business, ABC Carwash. He claims that when he submitted the claim to his insurance company, it denied it, which caused a monetary loss that forced his carwash out of business.

The lawsuit states the defendants claimed that the fire was intentionally set with no proof as the reason for denying the insurance claim.

Alassaf is seeking more than $90,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Haytham Faraj.
