An electrician is suing contractors who were doing work in a hospital at the same time, claiming their negligence caused him to be injured.
Dan Nemec filed a lawsuit Nov. 13 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Roberts Environmental Control Corp. and JDM LLC, citing negligence.
According to the complaint, Nemec, in the course of his employment with SRC Electric, was performing work on Dec. 14, 2011 in Building No. 200 11th Floor of the Hines VA Medical Center.
The complaint states at the same time, the defendants had a contract to perform work at the medical center. Nemec claims the defendants negligently breached their duty to keep the work area in a safe condition, including failing to remove its materials from the path used for ingress and egress.
He alleges that as a result of the defendants' negligence, he was injured while doing work inside an air handling unit.
Nemec is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit. He is being represented in the case by Bryan J. O'Connor Jr.
