A man is suing for injuries allegedly caused by a forklift.
Rawhi Eid filed a lawsuit Dec. 11 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Miedema Auctioneering Inc., doing business as Orbitbid.com, and National Bulk Equipment Inc., citing negligence.
According to the complaint, the defendant owned and maintained a H-Frame hydraulic press that was listed for sale on the auction website www.orbitbid.com.
Eid claims he bid on the press on Dec. 13, 2011 and purchased it from Orbitbid. The suit states he arrived to a warehouse at 40 Stonehill Road in Oswego Dec. 14, 2011 to pick up the press and that Orbitbid employees assisted him with loading it onto his trailer.
The complaint states the employees operated a forklift in order to place the press in the trailer and the fork of the forklift to fell onto Eid's hand, trapping his fingers between the forklift and the machine, causing injuries.
Eid is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented in the case by attorney John R. Gorey.
