Crate and Barrel sued over claims shag rug caused customer's fall

Patrice and David Rehm filed suit Nov. 18 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Euromarket Designs Inc., doing business as Crate and Barrel.

According to the the complaint, Patrice Rehm was at the Crate Barrel at 646 N. Michigan Ave. in Chicago on May 10, 2012, when she tripped on a shag rug and fell.

The Rehms claim Crate and Barrel was negligent in placing the shag rug on the floor which created a hazardous condition. Patrice Rehm is suing for negligence and David Rehm is suing for loss of consortium.

They are seeking more than $50,000 in damages and are represented by attorney James K. Theisen.
