Rehab center sued over alleged neglect

Rooth

A local medical center is facing suit over claims it violated the Nursing Home Care Act.

Mary Allen, as independent administrator of the Estate of Rufus Murry Jr., filed a lawsuit Nov. 20 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Parkshore Estates Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC, citing violations of the Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, Murry was a resident at the nursing home on May 15, when he suddenly and violently fell, sustaining a left femur fracture and other injuries.

Allen claims the defendant's actions constituted neglect under the state's Nursing Home Care Act.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Robert J. Rooth of The Rooth Law Firm P.C.
