Pharmaceutical company sued for negligence

A drug manufacturer is facing another suit after claims a prescription drug increases bladder cancer risk.

Carlos Rosa Jr. filed a lawsuit Oct. 25 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against against Takeda Pharmaceuticals America Inc., Takeda Pharmaceutical U.S.A. Inc., formerly Takeda Pharmaceutical North America Inc. and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, citing negligence and strict liability.

According to the complaint, Rosa was was prescribed the medication Actos and then diagnosed with bladder cancer and had recurrences of bladder cancer.

Rosa claims the defendants concealed knowledge that Actos can cause bladder cancer.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit and is being represented by attorneys Tor A. Hoerman, Eric Terry and Jacob W. Plattenberger of Torhoerman Law LLC and Florida attorney Steven R. Maher.
