Willer

A machinist is suing over injuries he allegedly sustained after a fire door fell on him.

Thomas Hogan filed a lawsuit Dec. 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. and Jones Lang LaSalle Americas Inc., citing contractor negligence.

According to the complaint, the defendants provided building engineering services at The Freedom Center North building, 777 W. Chicago Ave, and were in charge of maintaining the fire doors within various elevators.

Hogan claims that on Dec. 7, 2012, he was employed by the Chicago Tribune Co. as a machinist and was repairing the freight elevator on the first floor when a fire door located behind the elevator door fell off and struck him, causing injuries.

He is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit. He is being represented in the case by attorney Edward G. Willer of Corboy & Demetrio P.C.
