Patricia Dunleavy filed suit Nov. 21 in the Cook County Circuit Court on Nov. 21 against Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
According to the complaint, Dunleavy was a patient at the Alexian Brothers Medical Center from March 6, 2012 to March 17, 2012. She claims she was diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhage and admitted to the ICU, where she was later noted to be at risk for falling.
Dunleavy asserts she fell on March 9, 2012, but there were no witnesses who saw the event, and was diagnosed with compression fractures that required remedial surgery. She accuses Alexian of negligence, claiming it failed to take adequate measures to prevent her from falling.
Dunleavy is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented by attorney Jacqueline Brody Kanter.
