A local medical center is facing suit over claims it violated the Nursing Home Care Act.
Sharon Herendeen, as personal representative for the Estate of Lillian Alexander, filed a lawsuit Nov. 22 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Prairie Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC and Extended Care Consulting LLC.
According to the complaint, Alexander was a resident at Prairie Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at 345 Dixie Highway in Chicago Heights from Nov. 2, 2010 until March 21, 2012.
Herendeen claims the defendants knew Alexander was at high risk for falls and was prone to urinary tract infections, but didn't properly treat Alexander and as a result, developed urinary tract infections and fractured her right femur while at the nursing home.
The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Thomas W. Dillon and Brian W. Irvin of Konicek & Dillon PC.
