Chicago tavern sued over fight between patrons

A man is suing a Chicago tavern, claiming he was struck by another patron.

Janusz Karcz filed a lawsuit Nov. 27 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Filonek's Inc., citing negligence.

According to the plaintiff, Karcz was at the defendant's premises at 6213 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago on Nov. 28, 2011, when another patron struck him. He claims the defendants negligently failed to keep the premises safe, remove the violent patron, warn and inspect the premises.

Karcz is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Scott E. Encher of Steven B. Salk & Associates Ltd.
