Nursing home sued after man's death

A woman is suing after her father developed an infection and died in a nursing home.

Kathleen A. Deeds, as independent administrator of the estate of Willis L. Deeds, deceased, filed a lawsuit Jan. 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Trilogy Healthcare of Will LLC, doing business as St. James Manor & Villa, Yasser Farid M.D. and Julia Harris M.D., respondents in discovery, citing negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Willis was a resident for long-term convalescent care at Trilogy when he developed pressure sores, dehydration, malnutrition and an infection of his left hip surgical wound which, left untreated, spread and is suspected to have contributed to his death on April 30, 2012.

Kathleen Deeds is seeking more than $30,000 in damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Marina E. Ammendola.
