A couple is suing over injuries a woman allegedly sustained when she stepped off a platform and fell inside a bookstore.
Fran and Daniel Landt filed a lawsuit Dec. 3 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Women & Children First Inc., citing negligence and loss of society.
According to the complaint, Fran was at the defendant's bookstore at 5233 N. Clark St. in Chicago on Oct. 26, 2012 when she fell off a platform.
The Landts claim the defendant negligently failed to warn customers of the narrowing platform, as well as the unreasonably dangerous condition created by it, failed to provide or erect a guard rail and negligently created an unreasonably dangerous condition where its patrons are likely to be distracted.
They are seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and are being represented in the case by David J. Kupets of the Law Offices Kupets & DeCaro P.C.
