A man is suing over injuries allegedly sustained after slipping and falling on ice.
Vito Guarino filed a lawsuit Jan. 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the Village of Elk Grove and North Star Trust Co., as trustee for Trust No.06-10053, citing negligence.
According to the complaint, Guarino sustained serious injuries on Jan. 23, 2013 when he slipped and fell on ice that formed from water leaking out of a fire hydrant at 225 N. Arlington Heights Road in Elk Grove.
Guarino claims the defendants allowed an unnatural amount of water to leak out of the hydrant, failed to properly remove the leaking water, failed to inspect the hydrant and failed to warn, which caused his injuries.
Guarino is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and is being represented in the case by attorneys Melanie J. VanOverloop and Brian D. Teven at Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen Ltd.
