Man sues after stairway collapses, causing injury

A man is suing after he fell when a stairway collapsed.

Lajos Farkas filed a lawsuit Jan. 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Christopher Savaiano, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, on June 18, 2012, the plaintiff sustained injuries when he fell because the stairway collapsed on the defendant's premises at 5142 N. LeClaire Ave., in Chicago. The plaintiff contends the defendant improperly managed the premises, failed to inspect the stairs, failed to warn and failed to maintain the stairway.

Farkas is seeking damages in excess of jurisdictional minimum. He is being represented in the case by attorney Melanie J. VanOverloop of Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen Ltd.
