A man is suing, claiming contractors caused him to fall on stairs while they were working on his property.

James Reinhardt filed a lawsuit Oct. 31 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Adrian Flooring Inc., JT Designs Inc. and John Then, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Reinhardt entered into a contract with Adrian Flooring on Sept. 27, 2011 to make improvements to his property, including the installation and removal of flooring.

While the defendants were working on his property, Reinhardt claims they unexpectedly moved carpeting on the staircase he was descending from, causing him fall and sustain serious injures.

Reinhardt is seeking more than $100,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Thomas J. Nathan of Munday & Nathan in Chicago.
