Scales1

A woman is suing Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital over claims it was negligent in her care.

Beverly Peterson filed suit Nov. 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against VHS Acquisition Subsidiary No. 3 Inc., doing business as Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital, Associated Physicians of Rehabilitation LLC, Dr. Rahul Sharma and nurses Kathleen Downey and Mark A. Leslie

According to the complaint, Peterson received nursing care, physical rehabilitation and medical treatment at Weiss Hospital, 4646 N. Marine Drive in Chicago, from November 2011 until January 2013.

Peterson claims she was admitted to Weiss Hospital in November 2011 for multiple afflictions,  including multiple sclerosis, peripheral artery disease and ulcerations on her toe, and required assistance with all activities of daily living.

Beginning in December 2011, the suit alleges Peterson developed multiple pressure ulcers, some of which became infected and got worse over time.

She claims the ulcers were a result of negligence on behalf of the defendants and could have been prevented had they properly implemented a skin treatment plan for her.

Peterson is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented by attorneys at Romanucci and Blandin LLC.
