A woman is suing the owner of a Chicago theater over claims a man was injured by automated handicap doors.

On behalf of Robert Thames, Barbara Thames filed suit Nov. 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Chicago Theatre Group Inc.

According to the complaint, Robert was entering a building at 170 N. Dearborn St., home of the Goodman Theatre, when he was injured. The suit states he was trying to operate the automated handicap doors in December 2012 when the door opened in such a way as to catch his right foot and break his tibia.

Barbara Thames accuses the defendant of failing to maintain the automated doors in a safe condition.

She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented by Chicago attorney Melanie K. VanOverloop.
