Doctor accused of cutting man's artery during surgery

A man is suing a medical group, hospital and doctor over allegations his artery was cut during surgery.

Christopher T. Georgiades filed suit Dec. 4 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. James Steven Spitz, North Shore Medical Group and Glenbrook Hospital.

According to the suit, Georgiades was admitted to North Shore on Dec. 4, 2011 for Spitz to perform an outpatient procedure.

Georgiades claims that during the surgery, Spitz cut an artery, which caused him to bleed excessively. He claims cut artery amounts to medical malpractice.

He is seeking more than $50,000 and is being represented by attorney Michael D. Spinak.
