Drug manufacturer accused of concealing knowledge about Actos

A drug manufacturer is facing another suit over claims its prescription drug increases bladder cancer risk.

Jack Kissner filed a lawsuit Jan. 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court against against Takeda Pharmaceuticals America Inc., Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A. Inc., formerly known as Takeda North America Inc., and Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. LTD, citing strict liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, Kissner was prescribed the medication Actos in 2008 and was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2013. He claims Actos was a dangerous product and that the defendants concealed knowledge that Actos can cause bladder cancer.

Kissner is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional requirements and is being represented by Allen N. Schwartz of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz and attorneys at Monsour Law Firm in Texas.
