A nursing home is facing suit over claims it violated the Nursing Home Care Act.
Dolores Pfeiffer filed a lawsuit Dec. 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the County of Stephenson, doing business as Stephenson Nursing Home, citing violations of the Nursing Home Care Act.
According to the complaint, Pfeiffer was a resident at Stephenson Nursing Home on Dec. 13, 2012 and was at risk for falling and needed assistance in transferring.
She claims the defendant failed to transfer her using a gait belt and failed to have sufficient personnel during her transfer, which resulted in her falling and injuring herself.
The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Matthew I. Baker of Sandman, Levy & Petrich.
