A former material handler's family is suing over claims repeated exposure to asbestos resulted in mesothelioma and death.
Margaret Ann, Carrie, Christy and Ceann McNamara filed a suit Jan. 24 in the Cook County Circuit Court against ICO Polymers North America Inc. and ICO Polymers Inc., both individually and as successors-in-interest to Wedco Technology Inc., as well as Centro Inc. and John Crane Inc.
Margaret Ann McNamara serves as the personal representative of the Estate of Donald Robert McNamara.
According to the complaint, Donald was exposed to asbestos containing products from 1972 until 1973 while working in various capacities, including material handler. The McNamaras contend the defendants were negligent and knew or should have known that asbestos could cause injury or death.
Donald, the suit states, developed mesothelioma and died on July 19, 2012, as a result of the asbestos exposure.
The plaintiffs are asking for damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and are being represented by William R. Fahey of Cooney & Conway.
