Two nursing homes sued by former resident

A man is suing a two nursing homes he lived in, claiming they didn't provide adequate care.

Charlie Fair filed a lawsuit Dec. 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Thi of Illinois at Brentwood LLC, doing business as Brentwood Sub-acute Healthcare Center, and The Renaissance at 87th Street Inc., doing business Renaissance at 87th Street, citing violations of the Nursing Home Care Act.

Fair states he was a resident at Brentwood on July 14, 2012, when he fell from his wheelchair, broke his finger and was discovered unresponsive and bleeding from his head. He also developed a pressure ulcer while there, according to the compalint.

Fair claims he was then a resident at Renaissance at 87th Street beginning on July 17, 2012. Upon admittance, the suit states he was assessed as having a pressure ulcer, but while a resident at Renaissance at 87th Street, developed an additional pressure ulcer and his pre-existing ulcer worsened.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz.
