Nursing home, medical center sued for wrongful death

Golabek

A woman is suing a nursing home, claiming its negligence led to the death of one of its residents in January 2012.

Kimberly Evans, as special administrator of the Estate of Evelyn Bright, filed suit Dec. 9 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Frankfort Terrace, Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center and Plaza Nursing and Rehab Center.

According to the complaint, Bright was 65 in August 2004 when she was admitted to Frankfort Terrace where she remained until her death in January 2012. While a resident there, Evans claims Bright suffered from numerous conditions, including ulcers, falls and urinary tract infections, as a result of the defendants' negligence.

Evans alleges the care Bright received fell below the applicable standard in violation of the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.

She is seeking more than $50,000 and is being represented by attorney Eva E. Golabek.
