Podiatry practice accused of malpractice that led to toe loss

Podiatry Consultants of Chicago is facing suit over claims its medical malpractice caused a patient to lose a toe.

Gloria Black filed a medical malpractice lawsuit Feb. 4 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Lawrence Marczak and Dr. Lawrence Marczak Ltd., doing business as Podiatry Consultants of Chicago.

According to the complaint, Black became a patient of Marczak on Feb. 17, 2012 for treatment of left toe pain and underwent surgical procedures in February in 2012.

She claims Marczak failed to obtain, perform and/or rely on proper clinical and diagnostic testing to evaluate blood flow in her foot and toe prior to performing invasive unnecessary procedures.

Black further alleges Marczak failed to consider other treatment options or consult with her vascular specialists. She contends that as a result of the defendants' negligence, her left toe became necrotic and gangrenous, requiring her toe to be amputated.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Stacy F. Friedland of Karlin, Fleisher & Falkenberg LLC.
