Man sues after getting stuck on CTA elevator

Elevator

A Chicago man is suing after being stuck on an elevator and sustaining injuries.

James Lockhardt filed a lawsuit Feb. 10 in the Cook County District Court against South West Industries Inc., doing business as Anderson Elevator Co., citing negligence.

Lockhardt claims he suffered injuries on March 21 when the elevator at the Chicago Transit Authority train stop, 1713 W. Polk St. in Chicago, failed to work properly.

According to the suit, Lockhardt was riding the elevator up to the platform when it stopped. He claims he was trapped inside the elevator for more than an hour, which caused him severe chest pain and a panic attack requiring medical attention.

Lockhardt is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. He is being represented in the case by attorney Dennis J. Kellogg of Law Office of Dennis J. Kellogg.
