Rehab center, nurse named in wrongful death suit

A Cook County man is suing over claims a rehab center's negligence caused the death of a family member.

Timothy Conklin, on behalf of the Florence Conklin, filed a wrongful death lawsuit Feb. 3 in the Cook County District Court against Regency Rehabilitation Center LLC, Sir Management Inc. and registered nurse Susan Larson.

The suit also names Dr. Mitchell Kaminski Jr. as a respondent in discovery.

According to the suit, Florence Conklin was a long-term resident at the defendants' facility  at 6631 Milwaukee Ave. in Niles from Nov. 15, 2008 to Feb 5, 2012. Timothy Conklin claims the defendants did not properly care for Florence, resulting in her developing many pressure sores that became infected and required surgery.

He allege Florence died on Feb. 5, 2012, as a result of the defendants' negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, as well as court costs, and is being represented in the case by Chicago attorneys Jordan S. Powell and Katherine Moorhouse of Levin & Perconti.
