A Cook County woman is suing over claims she sustained injuries after receiving negligent care during a tonsillectomy.

Laura Hansen filed a lawsuit Feb. 11 in the Cook County District Court against Suburban Ear, Nose and Throat Associates Ltd., Northwest Community Hospital Anesthesiology and Northwest Community Hospital and Drs. Glenn Schwartz and Cynthia Valukas, citing negligence.

According to the suit, Hansen went to the defendants' facility in Cook County for a tonsillectomy on May 6, 2006. She claims the defendants failed to properly perform the surgery, resulting injuries including permanent nerve damage.

Hansen is seeking damages in excess of jurisdictional minimum and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Thomas M. Paris.
