A Chicago advertising business is suing over claims their reputation was affected and revenue lost as a result of false accusations by several individuals.

Media Communications Inc., doing business as VisualCast, filed a lawsuit Feb. 14 in the Cook County District Court against Andrew Schneider, Logan Square Preservation, Evan War, George Dohrman, Alyssa Sorresso, Leanor De La Torre and Patricia Lauber, citing defamation and civil conspiracy.

The suit alleges that since 2011, the defendants have been contacting Media Communication's clients falsely stating the advertising space, at 2616 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago, is "illegal." According to the brief, the defendant wrote to two different clients the plaintiff had entered into contracts with, threatening them with lost business if their advertisement wasn't removed from the plaintiff's space. The suit alleges that both of these clients backed out of the original contract, resulting in lost income and a damaged reputation for the plaintiff.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $670,000, attorneys fees and court costs. They are being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Edward X. Clinton Jr. and Julia C. Williams of The Clinton Law Firm.
