A man is suing law firm over allegations it failed to properly represent him.

Andrew S. Cwik filed a lawsuit on Feb. 19 in the Cook County District Court against the Law Offices of Jonathan Merel P.C. and Jonathan Merel, citing breach of contract.

According to the complaint, Cwik entered into an attorney-client relationship on June 20, 2011 with the defendants for the purpose of modifying his divorce decree and visitation schedule with his children.

Cwik claims the defendants failed to represent him to the court as promised, resulting in the dismissal of a motion and him having to pay his ex-wife's attorney's fees of $11,733.98, plus interest.

He is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented in by Chicago attorneys Jefferey O. Katz and Benjamin Cunningham of The Patterson Law Firm LLC.
