Airport worker sues over hand getting shut in plane door

An employee at O'Hare International Airport is suing over injuries he allegedly sustained when his hand was smashed in the door of an airplane.

Primitivo Delgato filed suit Feb. 26 in the Cook County Circuit Court against American Airlines, American Eagle Airlines, AMR Corp. and Executive Airlines.

According to the complaint, Delgato was delivering supplies to an American Airlines aircraft on Feb. 26, 2012 at O'Hare Airport. After dropping off the supplies, Delgato claims an American Airlines employee shut the airplane door on his hand and thumb on his way out of the aircraft.

Delgato contends it was American Airlines' negligence that resulted in his injury and that he isunable to perform his typical work functions due to the injury.

Delgato is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. He is being represented by Chicago attorney Brent R. Eames of Whiteside & Goldberg Ltd.
