Parents sue hospital, others over minor's death

Keith hebeisen

A local hospital and anesthesiologist are facing suit over the death of a minor.

Angela Joseph, individually and as independent administrator of the deceased minor's estate, and John Joseph filed a lawsuit Feb. 28 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Northwest Community Hospital, Northwest Suburban Anesthesiologists Ltd. and Dr. Catherine Ahn, citing wrongful death and the state's survival act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff's minor son underwent an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatogram on March 1, 2012 at Northwest Community Hospital with Ahn acting as the anesthesiologist for the procedure. Following the surgery, the suit states that the minor suffered heart problems and later died.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and are being represented in the case by attorneys Keith A. Hebeisen and Sarah F. King of Clifford Law Offices.
