Niles Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is facing suit over claims it violated the Nursing Home Care Act.
Mary Ennis, as temporary guardian of the estate and person of Jeff Jarocki, filed a lawsuit March 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Niles Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC, Infinity Healthcare Management LLC and Michael Perl, citing violation of the Nursing Home Care Act and negligence.
According to the suit, Jarocki was admitted to rehab center on March 19, 2012 and Ennis informed them he suffers from a medical condition that leads him to drink too much water if not supervised.
On March 20, 2012, the suit states that staff at the center called for emergency services after Jarocki was found suffering from hyponatremia, a condition that can be caused from drinking too much water and required him to stay in intensive care for a week.
The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and is being represented in the case by Eva E. Golabek of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz.
