Man sues after attacked, bit by dog

By Ben Hart | Mar 21, 2014

A man is suing a dog's owners, claiming he was attacked and bit by their dog.

Alfredo Chavez filed a lawsuit on March 6 in the Cook County District Court against Jose Murillo, Maria Murillo and Salud Perez, citing negligence and the Illinois Animal Control Act.

Chavez claims he was walking on the public sidewalk of Park Avenue near 66 E. 13th St. in Chicago Heights, when he was viciously attacked by the defendants' dog.

The suit alleges Chavez did not provoke the dog in any way to warrant the attack, which caused injuries, pain and suffering.

Chavez is seeking damages in an amount less than $50,000 and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Homewood attorney Ronald E. Harvey of Briones, Harvey and Trevino.
