Scales

A Cook County man is suing over claims he sustained injuries as a result of inadequate security system at his bank.

Mukesh C. Patel and Liquors Galore LLC, doing business as Maple Park Wine and Spirits, filed a lawsuit March 17 in the Cook County Circuit Court against BMO Harris Bank and BMO Financial Group, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Patel suffered injuries on March 26, 2012 when he was attacked, beaten and robbed while attempting to make a deposit at Harris Bank at 1620 W. 95th St. in Chicago.

He claims the defendants didn't manage or control the premises properly and adequate security wasn't provided to protect their customers. The suit alleges as a result of the incident, Patel required medical attention and he lost a large amount of money for his business.

He is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Fred I. Benjamin of Benjamin and Shapiro Ltd.
