Prairie Manor Nursing & Rehab Center named in wrongful death suit

Kellerman

A Chicago Heights nursing home is facing suit after a resident died.

Sandra Miggins, as independent administrator of the Estate of Elsie B. Willis, filed a lawsuit March 14 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Prairie Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC, doing business as Prairie Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, citing the state's Nursing Home Care, Survival and wrongful death statutes.

According to the complaint, Willis was admitted to Prairie Manor on March 14, 2012. Miggins alleges that the defendant committed numerous statutory violations while Willis was a resident, including allowing her to fall multiple times and develop pressure ulcers.

Miggins claims the injuries Willis sustained while at Prairie Manor deteriorated her physical and mental condition, which resulted in her death.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Jason M. Kellerman of Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates P.C.
