The city's transit authority is being sued by an employee who claims he was injured after being subjected to unsafe working conditions.

Carlitos Lopez and his wife, Diana, filed suit March 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA).

According to the suit, Lopez was performing work for the CTA at the elevated train stop at Lake Avenue and Wells Street in March 2013, when he fell and was injured. He claims he fell as a result of the narrow walkway at the elevated train stop.

Lopez alleges that the CTA was negligent in failing to provide a wider walkway for workers or to provide him with a safety device to prevent him from falling.

He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented by Chicago attorney Ronald Kalish of Steinberg, Goodman & Kalish.
